The venues here are characterful and post-industrial, run by people who care more about the programming than the bar margin. Here's how to read the area, and the one space we know best.
De Roze Tanker
Start with De Roze Tanker, a former petrol station on the edge of Noorderpark reborn as an independent cultural space. Where drivers once stopped for fuel, there's now a community-run space for music, arts and grassroots events. It's small and a little unexpected.

The room puts you close to everything — the artist, the sound, the people next to you. No separation between stage and crowd. It's why we chose it for the first Breakglass party.
The warehouses and shipyard spaces
Noord's real asset is its post-industrial architecture. The former NDSM shipyard and the warehouses around it offer huge volumes, raw concrete and a tolerance for low end the historic centre can't match. These spaces flex — one weekend an exhibition, the next a sound system and a few hundred people.
