Techno in Amsterdam
Groove techno — hypnotic, percussive, built to roll for hours. A dark room and a loud rig.
Groove techno, not big-room techno
Groove techno is the older, deeper idea: a tight, swinging drum-machine pattern, layered percussion, a bassline that locks in and stays. It hypnotises rather than shouts. The point is the loop — small changes over a long arc rather than a drop every sixteen bars.
Amsterdam's techno culture
Amsterdam has deep electronic roots, but the smaller rooms — warehouse parties, collectives, independent spaces — are where it stays interesting. Fewer guest-list politics, more sound system, a crowd there for the records.
That's where Breakglass sits. We're an Amsterdam Noord collective programming techno and UK garage side by side — the same crowd loves both.
How Breakglass does techno
Long sets, a system that does the low end justice, a dark room. Xarlee anchors our techno side — percussive, hypnotic, patient sets.
